Arduaine Gardens, the National Trust garden just over 5 miles form Melfort Village, is organising a Spring Festival from 16-18 April 2010.  Tickets are available for a special dinner at the Loch Melfort Hotel with an after dinner speech by Jim McColl of BBC Scotland’s Beechgrove Garden.  Day passes are also available for garden tours and daytime talks.  Call to book on 0844 493 2100 or 01852 200233.

I visited the Gardens with my children last weekend and many of the rhododendrons were coming into bloom, so you will be sure of a wonderful springtime garden display.

The Scottish Snowdrop Festival, is run by VisitScotland between 1st February and 15th  March, to introduce visitors to these dainty nodding blooms whose appearance heralds the promise of Spring, even in the depths of winter. 

Arduaine Garden, the National Trust Garden  just 10 minutes from Melfort, has drifts of snowdrops on its banks and under the trees.

The gardens at Melfort Village are also carpeted in snowdrops at this time of year and guests enjoy their delicate prettiness set off against the more stark winter landscape.
