Acceptable Usage Policy

Acceptable Use and Damage Policy

  • A refundable security deposit of £100 per cottage is payable directly to Melfort Village before arrival. The lead guest is responsible for the cottage and the conduct of everyone included in, or visiting, their party throughout the stay.

Occupancy and use

The number of guests staying in the cottage must not exceed the maximum occupancy stated on the booking. All guests, including children and infants, must be included in the booking. The cottage must not be used for parties, events, commercial purposes or any illegal activity. Visitors are permitted only with the prior agreement of Melfort Village and must not stay overnight unless they have been added to the booking.

Care of the cottage

Guests must take reasonable care of the cottage, its contents and the wider resort facilities. The cottage should be left in substantially the same condition as it was found, allowing for reasonable use during the stay. This includes leaving the accommodation tidy, washing and putting away dishes, disposing of rubbish as instructed and returning furniture and other items to their original positions.

Any accidental damage, breakage, loss or maintenance issue must be reported to Reception as soon as possible so that we have an opportunity to assist or prevent further damage.

Damage and additional cleaning

The lead guest will be responsible for the reasonable cost of:

  • Damage, breakages or missing items caused during the stay.
  • Damage resulting from negligence, misuse or a failure to follow the cottage instructions.
  • Excessive cleaning required beyond a normal changeover clean.
  • Stain removal or the replacement of damaged linen, towels, furnishings or equipment.
  • Call-out costs arising from guest misuse or avoidable damage.
  • Any loss incurred because the cottage cannot be occupied by the next guest as a direct result of serious damage.

Any deduction from the security deposit will reflect the reasonable cost incurred and an explanation will be provided. If the cost exceeds £100, Melfort Village reserves the right to recover the outstanding balance from the lead guest. The deposit, or the remaining balance after any agreed deduction, will be returned following inspection of the cottage.

Dogs

Dogs must be declared and added to the booking in advance, and the applicable dog charge must be paid directly to Melfort Village. Dogs must not be brought into a cottage without prior agreement. Guests must follow Melfort Village’s dog policy, including keeping dogs under appropriate control, preventing them from causing nuisance or damage, and cleaning up after them. The lead guest is responsible for any additional cleaning or damage caused by a dog.

Noise and consideration for others

Quiet hours apply throughout Melfort Village between 10:00pm and 8:00am. During these hours, noise must be kept to a minimum both inside and outside the cottages. Music, televisions, conversations and other activity must not disturb neighbouring guests or residents at any time.

Smoking and fire safety

Smoking and vaping are not permitted inside any cottage or shared indoor facility. Guests must follow all fire-safety instructions and must not tamper with smoke detectors, fire equipment or other safety devices.

Serious or repeated breaches

Melfort Village reserves the right to require any guest or party to leave without refund where there is serious or repeated antisocial behaviour, deliberate or significant damage, unauthorised over-occupancy, an undeclared dog, or any activity that places other guests, staff or property at risk.

Payment of the security deposit and occupation of the cottage confirm acceptance of this policy.
