Accessibility at Melfort Village

At Melfort Village in Kilmelford, near Oban on Scotland’s stunning west coast, we aim to make our holiday resort and facilities as accessible as possible for all visitors, including guests with limited mobility. Due to the character of some historic buildings, wheelchair access is limited in certain areas, but many parts of the resort have been improved to support ease of access and enjoyment for everyone.

For detailed information or personalised assistance about accessibility at Melfort Village, please contact our Reception Team on 01852 200 257 or email rentals@melfortvillage.co.uk – we’re happy to help with advance planning.

Cottage Access

Most cottages are suitable for guests with limited mobility except when the main access is via a stairway. The nature of the buildings mean that the corridors would be too narrow to navigate in a wheelchair and some are also two storey so whilst the ground floor areas would be accessible the upper floor would not.

Please contact us in advance to discuss specific cottage accessibility and to find the best option for your stay.

Leisure Centre Accessibility

Our Leisure Centre — including pool and fitness spaces — has level access from the car park, making it suitable for guests who use mobility aids. A disabled shower room is also available on site.

Gunpowder Kitchen & Bar

Access to The Gunpowder Kitchen & Bar is by an external staircase; however, a stairlift is installed to support guests who need mobility assistance.

Reception & Gift Shop

Our main Reception, Information Centre and Gift Shop are fully accessible with level entry, where you can also find local guides, maps and helpful staff ready to advise on accessible features of the resort and local area.

The Gunpowder Room

While the front entrance to The Gunpowder Room is via steps, there is accessible ramp access to the rear, suitable for wheelchair users and those with walking difficulties.

Games Room

One of our family Games Rooms has a small step at the entrance — assistance may be needed for wheelchair users or others with reduced mobility.
